The tutor was a great success! I've never seen my son work so hard and enjoy learning this much. We will definitely be back in time for A levels

Approach

Bright Young Things Tuition was born in 2007. Malachy Guinness and Woody Webster were working for one of London's most prestigious tuition agencies when they realised that they had something different to offer. They and their friends were young and dynamic; their friendly and enthusiastic approach to tutoring was proving more popular than they could handle. Malachy had just graduated with a degree in Biology from Christ Church, Oxford and Woody was studying for his masters in a PGCE at Oxford.

Armed with a burgeoning reputation for effective and empathetic tutoring, and an address book full of the brightest minds from Oxford and Cambridge, Malachy and Woody set out to create a bright new tutoring agency whose friendly enthusiasm and encouragement would become infectious, and prove a hit with students both in the UK and further afield.

Over the last five years, we have listened to parents, children, teachers and reputable educationalists and always they confirm our very simple philosophy: the most effective education is delivered only when the pupil respects and enjoys the teacher's company. That is why we make such an effort to ensure that our tutors are enthusiastic, encouraging and most importantly empathetic. Moreover, we do our very best to find a tutor whose personality and hobbies are compatible with your child's.

Accordingly, the BYT methodology is based around three key components: Awareness, Understanding and Confidence.

Awareness: we make sure that our tutors are fully briefed and are aware of the student's requirements, of any particular concerns that the pupil or parent might have, of the potential challenges the subject/level may pose, and of the pupil's academic ambitions. We can therefore structure our tutoring programmes accordingly.

Understanding: together they work towards an understanding of the subject(s) in a way that is interactive, engaging and that has long term results.

Confidence: through engaging discussion that goes beyond the curriculum, exercises, exam practice and practical application BYT students become confident in presenting an argument and articulating it with clarity and conviction both verbally and in written work.
